Tell the Liberal Government to Vote Against a Motion Condemning the Right to Boycott.
On Monday February 22nd, Justin Trudeau's Liberal government, with the support of the Conservatives, will vote to end the right of Canadian's to boycott Israel. Boycotting is a legitimate non-violent form of protest.
The motion says the following:
"That, given Canada and Israel share a long history of friendship as well as economic and diplomatic relations, the House reject the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, which promotes the demonization and delegitimization of the State of Israel, and call upon the government to condemn any and all attempts by Canadian organizations, groups or individuals to promote the BDS movement, both here at home and abroad."
No matter your political views on Israel, preventing people through action or intimidation from boycotting any country or product they find unconscionable is a breach of their fundamental right to freedom of expression. This effects everyone across the country! Asking the government to condemn legitimate forms of protest hurts our democracy. If you do not agree with the actions of your government, or any government around the world, you should be free to speak out non-violently without fear or being demonized by your government.
I certainly refuse to let the government treat me differently when I protest policies that I don't like.
Sign this petition to tell Trudeau and his government that Canadians should be free to protest non-violently without being condemned by the government!
