On December 30, 2021 LCPS had released the decision on returning students back to in-person learning.  I personally disagree with that decision as well as other families and students. Recently a lot of families have been impacted by the omicron variant of Covid-19 including my own friends and family. I feel as if LCPS didn't consider how this could impact families and put many people at risk. Many articles have talked about how the omicron variant will reach its peak in early February and will put many people at risk. Not only that, I have seen first-hand students and faculty who walk around LCPS schools and even in class having their masks down which will only increase the risk of the variant spreading putting many students and staff at risk, many students also are unvaccinated by choice which can be even more dangerous for them and their families. Certain classes available at LCPS schools require more of a hands-on approach such as gourmet foods, materials & processing, and many more which increase the risk even more as students are working in smaller areas. If we switch to distant learning or even hybrid it will reduce the risk of Covid-19 omicron/delta spreading, keeping students, families, and faculty safe until further notice.
