Amani Ayyad started this petition to LCCC Nursing Division and

LCCC Student Nurses have been denied an in person pinning ceremony which is important for these students to be recognized as Nursing school graduates. The college has decided to hold a virtual pinning ceremony for these students without considering any alternatives. As student nurses, we understand that these changes have been implemented as a result of covid-19 as a safety measure. However, it is unfair to us that no other alternatives have been considered and that we were not given a voice.

There are other ways to practice social distancing and still have an in person pinning. For example the ceremony can be held in an auditorium, require all persons to wear a mask, maintain 6 ft distance at all times, and live stream the ceremony for loved ones to view from home. If the amount of graduating nursing students is too large we can amend this issue by pinning students with last names beginning with A-M from 8-10, and students with last names beginning with N-Z from 11-1. This is just one example of how this can be done.

The primary goal for this petition is to have our voices heard and accommodations made for us to have a proper pinning ceremony. If we are able to attend lab and clinical in person and were able to maintain social distancing then we should have the option to do that for the pinning ceremony as well.
