LCAD Petition for Transparency of Funding

LCAD Petition for Transparency of Funding
Why this petition matters
To whom it may concern,
To preface this request, this petition was drafted in response to the lack of answers for tuition related questions during the Zoom call that took place on August 3rd, 2020. We hope that through this petition, we can prompt an open discussion between LCAD and us, the student body.
The students of LCAD are petitioning for LCAD to publicly disclose basic information about the $32,600 tuition collected for the fall semester and how it will be used. We believe these disclosures are necessary for students to understand why the tuition remains the same despite our move to an online platform for the Fall 2020 semester.
LCAD has stated that the tuition in full is justified for paying for software licenses, paying staff salaries, upkeeping the campus, and other undisclosed expenses. We, the students, would like to see these expenses laid out in detail to reassure us of the necessity of the tuition remaining the same. This should include up-to-date staff salaries as well as software licenses, maintenance, and any other necessary expenses.
The students of LCAD feel that due to the school’s last-minute decision in regards to moving classes online, we were not given a sufficient amount of time to have our questions and concerns addressed prior to the tuition deadline. In addition to this, many working and nonworking students were locked into housing/apartment contracts that, for some, are difficult to maintain due to COVID-19 Layoffs or pay cuts. In the future, students request more frequent communication from the administration so that we can better plan our housing and expenses for each semester. We also feel that it is more than fair to disclose the requested information prior to the start of the fall semester.
Thank you for your consideration,
The LCAD Student Body
We would like to limit the signatures to LCAD Students, Family Members, Alumni, Faculty, and Prospective students only. Thank you for your help!
