I want to ask for fair opportunities that is transparent to all FEMALE STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math), as well as giving opportunity to the "unidentified" underrepresented Pacific Islanders.
Two high achieving student with 3.8 - 4.0 GPA, denied to California Academy Math and Science (CAMS), based on the campus of California State University Dominguez Hills. One of the girls, my daughter, Alyssa represented the entire City of Long Beach as well as Long Beach Unified School District with her exceptional robotic arm project and report, coming in 1st Place at MESA Preliminary at Long Beach State University then onto the MESA Regionals at California State University Los Angeles. One student, my daughter, who soared to high levels in her academics, the CAMS application process and then somehow was denied access to the elite high school robotic school in the district after an interview! Our surnames should not deter us or our children from higher education opportunity. You educate a man, you educate an individual but when you educate a woman, you educate a nation!
