Anirudh Thimmaiah started this petition to Law ministry Govt of Karnataka and

If you are a Kannadiga, you will eventually end up talking about death of Kannada and its indigenous culture with another Kannadiga. These conversations are indicative of the fact that how a rich classical language and culture is slowly fading away thanks to globalisation, domination, imposition and conformation.

Looking at the past four decades, the usage of Kannada has declined exponentially including our educational institutions. Protection and preservation begins with adequate representation and opportunities for the local culture to preserve and flourish. But a constant deterioration in the representation and blatant disregard for local population, culture and language coupled with non-local domination is a growing concern in what are supposedly dubbed as 'institutions of national importance' such as NLSIU. All kinds of under representations and inequality must be addressed. This is a case of growing social and linguistic inequality on its own soil. This is a serious issue as the number of Kannada speaking students in NLSIU can be counted on fingers and even the few who are present are forced to conform to the culture and language of the non-local majority.

A legal route is inevitable to protect our mother tongue and culture from further decline. The bill to provide 25% reservation for Kannada students in NLSIU by amending the NLSIU Act is a great step in that direction because we have become a linguistic minority in our own city and our own campuses! This bill is being planned to be passed in the upcoming Assembly session in the Karnataka State Legislature.

We should come forward to protect and promote our rich Kannada culture and heritage. If not us, who else will?

We shall fight to preserve our indigeneity, culture and language!

Please support the bill by giving your signature!
