This petition is created in a effort to diversify law enforcement and the criminal justice system in general. What is being proposed is that laws change so that every patrol car on every city and town's police department have 2 officers with at least one of those officers being of a minority race. This is to ensure that no person interacts with law enforcement agents without a minority officer present. The goal of this is to help expand perspective, empathy, compassion and understanding during all interactions with law enforcement and to ultimately reduce/ stop the likelihood of misunderstandings and brutality to minority races during these interactions. This is a small step in the right direction.

Also this petition would like to propose laws to change regarding onlookers or witnesses to brutality from law enforcement to others. Laws need to change that would allow these onlookers to intervene in these encounters. This petition does not wish to encourage violence but rather to encourage a diverse law enforcement and criminal justice system in order to expand empathy, compassion and understanding.

To address law enforcement shortages as well as access to other criminal justice careers, this petition would also ask/ encourage scholarships to be created for those persons of minority races interested in law enforcement and other criminal justice careers.
