Why this petition matters

Started by Amy Carr

At HGHS they have said that the school jumpers which are currently optional will be made compulsory in September. We students at HGHS want to overturn this and keep the jumpers optional.

One impact for this is the cost of the jumpers. Many parents/carers are not the most wealthy people in society and can not possibly afford the jumpers as well as all the other school uniform.

Another impact is the heat. Students should be allowed to regulate their body temperature by choosing how many layers they get to wear. Also students will not be able to concentrate wearing a jumper as it will just be too hot.

Finally the impact on the environment. This will impact the environment by making jumpers that no one wants to wear. It will just be a waste.

We are mature young adults at HGHS and should have the right to choose whether we want to wear a jumper or not.
