We were thinking in having a home next door and we have a newborn. To have 100 mental men next to my house makes me feel extremely unsafe

It's wrong to displace the women without taking there needs and right into consideration.

The Department of Homeless Services has inflicted exactly this same policy at 237 West 107th St. Manhattan.
Our 120 friends who were living in the shelter have all been carried away on busses like prisoners.
Many in our neighborhood want to restore this shelter to its original state as a Women's Employment Program and where possible get our women back.
DHS must not be allowed to continue these brutal policies.

Just spoke to a resident and she told me there is another shelter in Chinatown- think she meant Bay Ridge that was supposed to be turned into a men’s shelter but they were able to stop it. A bunch of our wen were sent over there.

There is still hope. If they were able to stop it then ours should be able to remain as well!
Our women deserve to stay in their community. Only 14 left in the building!

The community and the residents of BRC Lexington Ave, should have some say of what goes on in their community and resources should be available, reviewed, and agreed upon, for the livelihood of the residents and community.

Why would the community displace one already at risk group and replace it with another? It doesn't make sense to rob Peter to pay Paul. Such a disservice to the women who were dependent on these services for safety and security.

This was my shelter from 2001 - 2003. The women should not be displaced. There is no good reason to treat them as if they don’t matter. This is their home until they have a home of their own. Let me know if there is anything I can do to prevent this from happening. Should we go protest in front of DeBlasio’s office? I’m still very sick but I’ll come out and protest with you.
