Kevin O’Brien started this petition to Laurel Highlands Council of Boy Scouts of America

The Board of Directors of the Laurel Highlands Council of Boy Scouts of America has decided that they will close Camp Seph Mack in Penn Run, Pennsylvania after the 2019 season, as a resident camp, and possibly as a general camp in the coming years.  Hundreds of boys attend this camp for one week per summer, to grow, learn, hone their skills, and follow the Boy Scout path in hopes to become an Eagle Scout.  Thousands of young men have attended this camp over the years, and their lives have been bettered as a result.  Let’s keep it that way for future generations. The Council is closing the camp, which makes an annual profit, to further their agenda with their pet project, Heritage Reserve, a camp much further away from many units in the Council.  We need to rise up against this gross injustice to the future of Scouting in this area, as well as the slap in the face of the rich past Scouting history, and for the current Scouts who call this camp home.  Camp Seph Mack is a very special place to many, let’s show those in power in Pittsburgh just how special it is by signing this petition and spreading the word to save Seph Mack.
