Metal Detectors in Laurel County Schools
0 have signed. Let’s get to 7,500!
In recent years, school shootings have become more and more frequent. Guns are easily accessed to many, and in this day and age you never know when it will happen in your home town.
The Laurel County Sheriffs Office has started collecting donations for metal detectors for our County, however the Laurel County School Board has denied to have them placed in schools. See recent update from Sheriff Root and the Laurel County Sheriffs office for the denial.
We, as parents, grandparents, family, staff, students, friends, and the community of Laurel County want this added safety feature to our schools! We need this peace of mind! When a student or staff member walks into a school building, not only that student/staff, but every one who knows that student and staff member should feel safe. These metal detectors would add that aafety and peace of mind!
It’s easy to sit back and say, “it won’t happen here!” Until the day that it does!!! Let’s not wait for that day. Let’s do something NOW!!!
