I love being able to raise my children within the gated community of Lauderdale County which I live. But being able to enjoy all the ammendities the comminity has to offer has become almost impossible due to the amount of loose dogs in the area. My 3 year old cannot even ride her bike down the road, the family can't take a stroll on the golf cart around the lake, nor can we simply take a walk without several dogs coming at us. Unfortunatly, my neighborhood isn't the only one with these problems....several in the county are having the same issues.

Even if free-roaming dogs aren't neccessarily dangerous; they are traffic hazards, they spread disease and breed (causing an overpopulation problem) and honestly, some people just do NOT want someone else's dog in their yard.
Dog owners, we therefore ask that you please have some consideration and either keep your dog indoors, in some sort of fence, or put your dog on a leash when you let it out. We the undersigned feel that while it is everyone's individual right to own a pet, not everyone wants to come into contact with everyone else's pet so it needs to be contained. We also understand that a good percent of Lauderdale County is "country" and several residents of the county have more than enough room where dogs can roam-free without beining a nuiance. But, the problem lies within neighborhoods and subdivisions.

So in this petition, we are requesting the county to enact a leash law for all neighborhoods and subdivisions stating all dogs must be contained to the owners property. Otherwise, it must be on a leash.
