Why this petition matters

Started by Eloise Lockwood

We, the residents, property owners, concerned citizens, club members have been notified last week that Traralgon Pines were purchased by a private enterprise around 6 years ago and they now wish to use and develop the land for a sand extraction facility.

Please refer to PAGE 8 for MAP showing impacted areas on link : www.latrobe.vic.gov.au/PlanningPermitNotification

All residents located in the vicinity of Scrubby Lane and Traralgon West End will be effected by the extreme potential health and safety issues from airborne particles like silica throughout the extraction process.  All those within the local community that enjoyed recreational activities within the Pines will no longer have this option if this development is approved. The environmental effects in high winds will mean this carcinogenic dust will be released into our air and our animals/wildlife will be directly impacted.

‘THERE IS NO BENEFITS TO OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY if this development is approved.  We have been given under 2 weeks to object this permit application 2021/356. The closing date is this Tuesday 9/2/22. If we are able to gain community support in our objection our East Councillors will be able to look further into many of the legitimate concerns. You can support our objection on this petition or write a personal objection letter to our East Councillors. Our community deserves to be consulted and have this matter further investigated.
