TCDA should have a seat on the Latrobe Creative Precinct Project Reference Group!

For more than a decade, The Traralgon Community Development Association has worked tirelessly to ensure that Traralgon has its fair share from Latrobe City. A huge part of this was seeking an upgrade to our ageing and outgrown Performing Arts Centre. For many years, we sought either its expansion and renovation, or to have a new facility built.
We lobbied all levels of government. We spoke to the media. We addressed Council. We got thousands of petition signatures over the years in support of both a Performing Arts Centre, and an indoor swimming pool (both of which are now funded, when we'd been told that they couldn't or wouldn't be).
The TCDA was out there engaging with the community, rain or shine, day or night, and we brought the results of that consultation to Council. We acted as the local community's voice to Latrobe City.
We participated in the "Get it Built" group for the Performing Arts Centre, and started the group, "Gippsland Regional Aquatic Centre - It's Time!" for the indoor pool, also running its facebook page.
Latrobe City recently began planning in earnest for the Latrobe Creative Precinct (formerly the Performing Arts Centre project). As we've previously participated in other Council groups, we were invited to submit an Expression of Interest for a place on the Project Reference Group. But this time, on a project into which this group probably put more time and effort into pursuing than any other for years, we were offered no place.
As we have the qualifications and experience to bring to the Group, we ask that the people of Traralgon and Districts please sign this petition. After all of the work we've done over the years to assist in bringing this project to fruition, we think that it's most unfair to be snubbed because of petty politics.
