VOICE YOUR OPINION REGARDING AL FRANKEN'S RESIGNATION
DO YOU FEEL THAT SENATOR FRANKEN DESERVES DUE PROCESS? DO YOU FEEL THAT HE WAS TARGETED TO MUTE THE SEXUAL HARASSMENT ALLEGATIONS POINTED AT MEMBERS OF THE GOP? If this situation were isolated to only Al Franken, I would say I would consider an investigation, not an "Ousting" of someone who has served well. Democrats unlike Republicans are quick to throw their own under the bus. In this new unexpected, yet welcomed phase of serious contemplation of sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior towards women, we have many elected politicians who have surpassed the 'Al Frankens' of this world. If we are going to throw out Franken, and rebuke Moore, we must also refuse to accept the behavior of others in higher positions. Technically, if every single member of Congress were to undergo an examination of past and present behavior that is considered unacceptable, we would have numerous empty seats.
I am all for punishing the perpetrators, but I feel there is an unusual and unprecedented political climate where certain behavior is now being weaponized and used to target Democratic members as retaliation for their position against Moore and others in the GOP for more serious allegations.
Some allegations made against Al Franken may be fraudulent and could be calculated political hits by online influencers. We heard Franken speak this morning (12/7) and he made it clear that his past comments were in no way admission of guilt.
So, in summary, these Democratic senators who today (12/6/17) have called for resignation of Franken, need to consider not only the moral implications of past behavior, but where we are in present political times, and the possibility of of this behavior being magnified by the opposing party for the very goal of removing Franken from office. We must allow for due process of law, and not simply react based on initial emotions and interpretations of what is ethical and right. Let it run its legal course first, then determine Franken's status as senator.
DO NOT DO WHAT REPUBLICANS WOULD NEVER DO: THROW YOUR OWN UNDER THE BUS BEFORE DUE PROCESS OF LAW.
