Jessica M started this petition to Last Podcast Network

20 years ago, Cynthia Jamarillo escaped from David Parker Ray, a serial rapist and murderer who terrorized New Mexico for decades. As a result of her quick thinking and determination, he was arrested and she potentially saved the lives of others. Cynthia had a hard life before her kidnapping in 1999, and has continued to experience personal tragedy in the years since her escape. Even with these burdens, she's committed herself to helping sex workers in New Mexico remain safe.

True Crime is a very popular entertainment genre. Something about serial killers in particular attracts the morbid curiosity of those of us who want to understand them. Last Podcast on the Left is one of the most successful podcasts that create true crime content.

Unfortunately, the victims of these crimes must live with the emotional and physical reminders of what has happened to them and may receive limited or no compensation as they struggle to rebuild their lives. Crime Victim compensation funds are allocated at a state level and many states still have caveats or barriers that disqualify some victims, particularly sex workers.

That's why I'm petitioning for Last Podcast Network to start a survivor's fund to help support victims during difficulties they may face as a result of these crimes. With the amount of interest Last Podcast on the Left receives, they have the opportunity to reach a wide audience of supporters who listen to these stories with empathy and want to help.
