Beg him to not steal 1425 Illinois from PeaceMob Gardens

PeaceMob Gardens is a community serving organisation that seeks to create positive change in the Kearsley Park neighborhood of Flint Michigan. We provide a spot to work with the community and at risk youth in our neighborhood, teaching them about recycling, gardening, permaculture, block redevelopment, sustainability, neighborhood pride, art, positive outlook, and more. We are comprised of volunteers from flint and the surrounding communities. 6 of our members have even purchased homes surrounding the garden to help them make their support of revitalizing our community their full time dedicated effort.

Our main garden is comprised of 4 lots on illinois ave. 1417, 1421, 1425, and 1431. 1425 illinois has a red garage we lovingly call our barn on it that we use not only to store our gardening tools, but it also serves as the catchment system to collect rain water to keep our garden alive. This summer we are supposed to be getting power hooked up to that building so that we can start teaching our community how to garden using hydroponics. We also are building a butterfly house on the lot, and have spent the last 5 months organizing to build an eco dwelling to demonstrate sustainable and natural building technologies. This lot and this building is essential to the operations of our garden, and we spent years working to save this building and develop this garden.

A neighbor, Mr Larry Young has some how purchased the land out from under us and is kicking us out of our garden. Although we have offered to purchase the land many many times from our local land bank, for up to twice what Mr. Young has just paid, they have refused sale to us and sold it to him. Last year he also tried to purchase our land, and we made a verbal agreement to let him have a lot next him, if he stopped trying to buy our land. I guess we should of gotten that in writing.

Please check out our Facebook at http://facebook.com/peacemobgardens and if you like what we do, sign this petition urging Mr. Young to sell us back our land and not to destroy our garden.
