The Covid-19 ( Coronavirus) pandemic has caught the world off guard and is having devastating effects on everyone.  Many of our state and local governments have taken the proper steps by issuing quarantines to slow the spread of the virus.  Although these extreme steps being taken are the correct ones, this displaces many people from their work and income.  For many this will cause significant financial distress and for some will lead to financial ruin.  I feel the state of Maryland should put a stop to rent and mortgage payments for as long as the shelter in place and covid-19 is around. It would allow Americans to stay home from work if needed without emotional distress or worry.  It allows Americans the ability to pause.....and then return to our normal lives and a strong economy after the crisis. This would also help limit the spread of the virus at the same time. If people aren’t working and making money to support their families, then it’ll only lead to world pandemic of Homelessness. Which in turn would leave people with nowhere to go and with no support from local governments.

We are asking our elected federal, state and local governments to pause all rent and mortgage payments. So families have no worries as they focus on protecting themselves from civic-19 and while having a place to shelter into.

Without rent and mortgages paused, we as a state and as part of the country will be creating another pandemic on top of covid-19. Please act swiftly as family’s are in the balance of trying times..
