Alexander Miller started this petition to Governor Larry Hogan

The adoption process takes way too long. It can take anywhere from 9 months to 9 years. The length also differs depending on the potential adoptive parents (ex. white parents adopting black child, homosexual parents, adopting children from other countries, etc.) Making the adoption process more efficient wouldn't only reduce the time it takes parents to adopt a child, but it would let children get out of the system faster and get into a loving family. The race, religion, sexuality, or ethnicity of a parent shouldn't automatically make the process longer. This hurts the child more than the parent. Adopting should always be about the children, not the parents.
