I have been away from my family for the past 11 yrs. I am fighting for my freedom, my release. I was sentenced to 50 years for 1st degree assault without a weapon on an another inmate, which I had no involvement in. The conviction and sentence that I received was egregious and unfair. I want to bring awareness to the disparity between the number of years I was sentenced versus other harsher crimes committed by others. It is my hope that with the support of my peers and family that I can bring attention to this injustice. The more assistance the better. I am doing everything on my end that I can. However, I am aware that with the use of social media, that many more will have the opportunity to hear my story. There is no better time than the present especially with what is currently happening in society now. My freedom will greatly impact my children, family and my community.
