Laramie County Community College / Appeal Committee: Re-evaluate documents needed for an appeal

Some students deserve a second chance and should not be over looked for being unable to provide all the information the school requires for a financial aid appeal. I was denied my chance at financial aid because I had no proof or documentation matching the time frame of when I failed my classes in spring of 2011. When you are a victim of domestic violence and too afraid to get help outside of your close circle of friends and family, the only "documentation" you have is just that. I wrote a very heart felt letter explaining what happened, and the school's counselor told me everything was confidential and the school should not require documents, however, the appeal committee still denied me my financial aid and told me I would have to pay out of pocket for a semester in order to be considered another chance. If I were able to pay for school, I would not require financial aid and who are they to deny me my education because I can not provide them with what they want? It was devastating to me that a group of people who don't know me or what I went through turned me down because of a silly piece of paper. Please support this petition so I can prove my case, go back to school with the help of financial aid, and also hopefully change the way the make desicions that affect the lives of students.
