Lanesville Community School Board to Consider Alternate Pay Increase Proposal for 2025

Lanesville Community School Board to Consider Alternate Pay Increase Proposal for 2025
The Issue
Numerous members of the Lanesville Community School have expressed deep concerns about the proposed 2025 pay increase for Superintendent Dr. Ryan Apple. Our reservations stem from the current salary situation in our school district. Lanesville Community School is not yet meeting the state minimum for teacher’s salaries, an issue that directly impacts our children's education and overall development. Before considering a sizable wage increase for the superintendent, it is imperative that the teachers' salaries meet the set state minimum, as they are the cornerstone of a thriving school system.
Indiana's Department of Education reports that the average teacher salary in our state is notably below the national average. It's troubling that our school district, too, falls short of this benchmark. Guided by a deep commitment to our educators and students, we feel compelled to question the rationale of substantially raising the superintendent's pay under these circumstances.
Given the criticality of this subject, we respectfully call on the Lanesville Community School Board to revisit the proposed pay increment for Dr. Ryan Apple in 2025. We strongly advocate for prioritizing teacher’s compensation to ensure it meets the state minimum, thereby aligning with our broader educational goals. Please join us in voicing this concern by signing this petition.
