Save the Paris Theater

For 70 years, the Paris Theater has been a New York institution.  It is now the only single screen theater left in the city and one of the few places where serious art house films can be seen.  Its lease is expiring and the press is reporting that unless immediate action is taken, the theater will shutter imminently.  We call upon the city to take action to preserve this landmark or for a cultural institution committed to cinema -- MoMA, Lincoln Center, the Film Foundation, etc. -- to assume the lease and keep this treasure from joining the long line of beloved places from another time that have sadly disappeared.
