Mary Ann Olson started this petition to Lancaster County Planning Department

We wish to block the approval to rezone RZ-2020-2887 & CP 2020-3057 from AR Agricultural Residential to M-Mining on Taxahaw Rd. Landsdown Corporation is wanting to build a rock quarry on these properties.

There are two running rock quarries within 5 miles of this new proposed site. There is simply no real need for a third.

The harm to the environment will be felt immediately with the devastating loss of vegetation, loss of hundreds of trees, and the enormous stress placed on the wildlife in this area. There will be a significant increased air and noise pollution, traffic hazzards, and inevitable deterioration of existing roads.

There will also be direct harm to the residents who live close to this site as they will be forced to breathe air filled with dust and exsplosive particulates that are known to be dangerous and can cause lung damage. The homes closest will likely suffer foundation damage, and cracks in their walls from repeated blasting. Electrical devices can also be damaged by the strong vibrations. Homes up to 3 miles away will see a loss of property value, with the homes closest to the mine being hit most of all.

Please help us stop the unnecessary destruction of our homes, our health, and the needless destruction of the wildlife habitat. Join us in saying No!
