I am the mother of a 5yr old autistic child, when It comes going to the local parks she struggles emotionally and physically often resulting in horrific injuries or bullying/segregation. Councils provide more and more parks for the able children yet there is not one sensory and disabled park specifically for children with special needs and their families/carers, a place that is safe and provides sensory stimulation as well as catering for physically challenged children. These children also have a need to be outdoors in a fun and safe environment developing friendships and a sense of acceptance and achievement. I see new parks that are totally disability and sensory unusable, build parks for all children based on the use it should provide and not the attitude of one fits all.
