Channel 9 Melbourne reporter Lana Murphy was recently pictured holding a placard displaying extremely offensive message to people of the Christian and Muslim faiths. Does channel 9 take their social responsibility seriously or does it only apply to marginalised groups that are their target demographic. If Ms Murphy's actions are not condemned by her employer in the strongest possible way then this is sending a strong message that people of faith are fair game for any level of insult, vitriol and denigration of the values they hold most dear. Pressure must be mounted on channel 9 to terminate her employment and send the strongest possible message that in a multi cultural and multi faith society ALL views and beliefs must be respected equally not just those in vogue.
