I am starting this petition because I feel like school dress codes have gotten out of hand, I feel like it's more about do as I say rather than these children's education. I have begun doing some research. I have looked at all the surrounding counties and their dress codes. I have only found one with the same dress code (that's not enforced) that I'm particularly concerned about and one tgat had uniforms.  I completely understand the importance of  Guidelines And normally I am behind any that makes sense 100% This one I'm having a really hard time getting behind. I've spoken to the assistant principal countless countless amount of times, I was informed that my child is at risk for being sent to alternative school over this dress code.  The dress code that I am referring to is the one about fried edges or patched holes.  Even a small hole, I can't wrap my head around as long as it's not in a spot that is inappropriate.  But even jeans that have been distressed, no hole! Just the material has just been scratched, has landed him in iss. This has taken a huge toll on him academicly, already this year.  Honestly I have walked into several schools and I have seen way worse. (The 5" rule on shorts apparently only apply to females now, which is actually against the law.) So with all this said if you have ever felt you or your child was wronged by this or any other dress code please join me & help make my voice louder. Thank you.
