Stop Newborns From Being Subjected to Opioid Addiction

A staggering 90% of pregnancies among opioid-maintained women are unintended.

On Monday, the Senate passed the Opioid Crisis Response Act of 2018. While Congress and Health and Human Services are taking steps to improve the treatment and recovery of addiction, it has completely overlooked the obvious solution to addressing the crisis as it relates to infants - preventing these pregnancies in the first place.

Every day, more infants are forced to endure the agony of opioid withdrawal. Swift and significant action is needed at the federal level to help communities afford women the ability to better prevent unplanned pregnancies.

Legislators are drafting a compromise bill between the House and Senate. We are asking that they include family planning measures and funding in the bill, and prevent newborns from suffering.
