Colin Weaver started this petition to Lakewood Mayor and City Council

As the parent of 3 young kids who live on Nicholson Ave and walk/bike to Lakewood Park constantly, we shouldn't have to endanger our families and be forced to walk in the street on Edgewater Drive. Hundreds of people in the area, including hundreds of children, do not have a safe option when going across Edgewater from Nicholson Ave to Parkside Dr/Lakewood Park because no sidewalk exists. This stretch of road is the only non-dead end street in Lakewood without a sidewalk.

Kids daily walking to/from school, residents wanting to get exercise, tens of thousands of people pouring in/out to attend great events at Lakewood Park, kids learning to ride their bikes...all have to be done in the street because no sidewalk exists.

Lakewood prides itself on being one of the most pedestrian-friendly cities in the region yet their is no sidewalk along the road that is a major pedestrian entrance to Lakewood Park. Not only is forcing residents to walk in the street dangerous but it becomes even more so in low light situations, during the fall when residents leaves dramatically narrow the width of Edgewater, during the winter with snow buildup in the street, etc.

Solution: We can protect public safety by creating a sidewalk on the north side and/or south side of Edgewater Drive between Nicholson Ave and Parkside Drive/Lakewood Park. Nearly all of the trees and other obstacles have already been removed from the entire length of that stretch of road.
