As International Baccalaureate at Lakewood High School students we believe that IA-based scoring would be better represent our knowledge, protect our health, and create an equitable scoring system as opposed to exam-based scoring.  

The Covid-19 pandemic has severely disrupted learning throughout the 2020-2021 school year; instruction time has been greatly decreased and both faculty and students have been forced to develop new means to both teach and learn. Repeated transitions between online and in-person learning prevented students and teachers from falling into a groove, while inequitable home learning environments lead to unfair circumstances for students. 

The bottom line is that examination by the means of in-person testing would not fairly represent the knowledge of the students in the IB program at LHS. Adoption of an IA-based grading system would allow for a more equitable scoring system as well as decreased Covid-19 transmission during testing.
