Covid has impacted everyone's lives monumentally, Indoor sports are seeing a major change in the way games are handled. The senior class of 2022 has only experienced one normal year of high school, our sophomore year was cut short and our junior year was virtual. Through this petition we hope to reach the right audience and our Lakewood board of education, we ask that we are allowed visitors in our gym for our final year. We understand covid restrictions and are willing to follow every protocol placed. 

While scrimmaging for our 2021-2022 volleyball season, we got to witness team spirit in the opposing teams benches and bleachers. Every single team had spectators in gyms with only one court. It is possible to follow all proper covid protocols to ensure everyones safety, however, the risk of contracting covid is never 0. Half of the indoor sport spectators are students who are already inside the building from 6:30AM - 1:30 pm, and the other is made of parents who are involved in their Childs sport progression. 

We ask the Lakewood board of education to reconsider their decision of shutting down indoor sport visitors and opening the doors for parents and students even if that means just Lakewood residents. 

Social distancing will NOT be a problem being that we are privileged enough to have a 3 basketball court gym. Mask will be enforced and temperature checks will take place before spectators entrance. Thank you for taking the time to read this and supporting our cause
