Carina Littlejohn started this petition to Lakeview Board of Education and

Our school's dress code is very constricting especially towards girls. One rule we all hate, is the rule of no pajama pants. Now when I say pajama pants, I mean the plaid pajama pants you see on tik tok and the pants that at least 90% of people have. Girls get dress coded when the slightest bit of skin is shown, but guys do not. I personally cannot tell you how many times I've seen a guy wearing a tank top and not get dress coded, but a girl wearing a long enough crop top, that covers everything, gets dress coded. I, myself, got dress coded for wearing plaid pajama pants. Why though?

Is it wrong for a student to feel comfortable? Is it wrong for a student to wear something because they didn't want to get dressed or didn't have anything else? Wouldn't sweat pants and a hoodie also be considered pajamas? Wouldn't anything? I mean majority of the students have slept in clothes that are not pajamas. So why this specific pair of pants? Why do you care that a girl is wearing fully covered clothing but the second she raises her hand, she's dress coded? Why can't we wear anything that shows our shoulders or our knees? I understand if it's really short and revealing, but clothing that covers everything...it shouldn't be dress coded.

We want to change our dress code. We want to show the board and the school that is a real issue. Help us get to our goal so we can change our rules.
