Michelle Browne started this petition to Lakeland CSD Board of Education members and

The current retainer agreement between Lakeland Central School District (LCSD) Board of Education (BOE) and/with Shaw, Perelson, May and Lambert LLC must be terminated immediately, and there must be no future involvement with this law firm, with any past or current employee from this law firm.

Due to the relationship between Dr. Cosgrove, LCSD Assistant Superintendent of Human Resource's position in LCSD and Michael Lambert, Esq. as a partner of Shaw, Perelson, May and Lambert LLC (law firm is currently retained by Lakeland CSD BOE) this relationship has and continues to violate our District Code of Ethics Policy (#2510) and poses a liability for the taxpayers in this District. Every interaction must be questioned, because of the potential for personal financial gain for Michael Lambert and the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources.

The BOE members and the Superintendent of Schools have/are well aware of this relationship, and for many years this has/is a blatant violation of our District Code of Ethics Policy.

In an email, on May 27, 2021, Dr. Brandan Lyons stated, "I directly supervise Dr. Cosgrove and sign off on all invoices for legal fees. As I stated at the Board meeting, I have no concerns regarding Dr. Cosgrove's use of legal consultation in the scope of her human resources duties."

I requested the releases pardoning and/or acknowledgments of this relationship, as this relationship violates our District Code of Ethics Policy and poses a liability for taxpayers, signed by each BOE members and Administrators. In an email, dated May 27, 2021, Dr. Lyons stated, "I can tell you that no such records exist related to "releases" or conflicts of interest relative to the matter you are asking about."

Thank you for your support in this serious matter. Please pass this petition along to as many of our Community members as possible  - we can make our BOE understand this violation of our District Code of Ethics policy is absolutely unacceptable.
