Ted Johnson started this petition to Lake Worth Beach City Government

The Lake Worth Sailing Club would like your permission and support to occupy a slip & become the Ambassadors of the Public Visitor Docks in Lake Worth Beach for the purpose of 1) attracting more visitors to the city from the estimated thousands of boats that pass by on their annual migration past our fair city; 2) to operate a free public sailing program to introduce families & individuals of Lake Worth Beach to boating & sailing; and 3) to be the city's eyes & ears on the docks to prevent ecological or physical damage to the environmentally sensitive Snook Islands area.

Lake Worth Beach is a small city with limited staff. The tradition of the city is that volunteers and local associations contribute to the spirit and success of the city. Instead of continually clearing the docks, let us attract the visitors who will enjoy our amenities and spend money with our local merchants. With

We will aid & assist visitors to find the goods & services they need among the many fine merchants in Lake Worth Beach. This will be done with very little direct cost to the city through our partnership with the Visitor Information Center. Our nonprofit corporation provides the perfect vehicle for this role. Our 26' Hunter sailboat is the perfect boat with which to safely introduce people to sailing. Lake Worth Beach has a lot to offer the boater and the merchants have a lot to gain.

No one will overnight on the boat. The boat will always be properly maintained & licensed.

The Sailing Club has provided the city with a $1,000,000 indemnity policy to protect it from harm. We will conduct activities with the highest level of safety and responsible boating in mind. It will be done on a one-year trial basis with a review by affected parties.
