To Whom This May Concern,

My name is Ashley Barbour, and I am a Senior at East Ridge High School. I have been a Lake County student for 13 years, and have been an active participant in my school and community. After the Stoneman Douglas School shooting that occurred on February 14, 2018, I began to think about my safety and emergency preparation at East Ridge High School. I came to realize that I feel very unsafe and unprepared in the event that a school shooting or similar situation were to happen at my school.

At this time, Code Red lock down drills are only practiced 1 time, if that, a school year. I do not believe this is enough to ensure that students fully understand what the proper procedures and protocol are in an emergency situation. I am concerned about not only the students at East Ridge High School, but all Lake County students.

I, Ashley Barbour, Senior at East Ridge High School, would like to propose monthly Code Red lock down drills for all Lake County, Florida schools.
