This petition is born out of a need to something. As a Nigerian and a Lagosian I cannot continue to stand by and watch these tanker accidents happen over and over again. I have listed an extremely brief history of petrol tanker related accidents on the Lagos roads

3.       A petrol tanker laden with 33,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) tumbled and exploded on FESTAC Link Bridge in Lagos. source: Guardian newspaper Dec 2017

4.       More than 20 people were burnt to death this morning in their vehicles around Alakija area of Mile 2, Lagos when an oil tanker fell and spewed its content on the ever-busy Lagos-Badagry expressway. Source: Sahara reporters Dec 2016

I am calling on the Lagos state government to not just offer condolence messages but rather take up a plan of action and see it through. These accidents can be prevented by enforcing strict regulations that will serve the masses. I call on the Lagos state governor Akinwumi Ambode to take action, I urge him to remember why we elected him, I urge him to distinguish his administration by not bowing to pressure and being inactive on this issue but to rise up and enforce policies that will make us safe on our daily commutes. I urge him to truly make Lagos a safer place for all.
