The use of commercial motorcycles and tricycles, popularly known as 'Okada' and 'Keke Napep' respectively, for conveying people from place to place throughout the city of Lagos, Nigeria has been banned by the Lagos State Government.

This disastrous move is currently affecting hundreds of thousands of commuters who rely on 'Kekes' and 'Okadas' daily for quick and easy navigation around a city notorious for its incessant grueling traffic stirred by the horrendous state of the roads, and to a greater extent, the inactions and irresponsibility of a government that's insensitive to the plight of the people.

All over the city, people can be seen trekking long distances because alternatives were not provided by the government following the ban. Since there aren't sufficient buses in the system to cater for the ever growing transportation needs of the city of over 10 million people, there'll be so much people chasing few buses, prompting these private bus operators to charge higher than the regular fares!

Besides the inconvenience resulted from the ban, thousands who rely on this trade ('Okada and Keke riding') as a source of livelihood have been left without jobs, leading to further hardship which would in turn skyrocket the crime rate in state.
