Students should be allowed express themselves by wearing what they want. Since students are forced to go to school, they should be able to choose how they would like to express themselves. Our current dress code is inherently sexist and controlling. Instead of teaching girls to ‘cover up’ or ‘dress modest’, we should teach boys to respect women as people. The Oxford School Board allows their students to have a more liberating dress code and in return, their students score significantly higher on standardized tests than our students do. We are asking for the Lafayette County School Board to re-evaluate our current dress code for the sake of our students.  -Abigail West and Caydence Trost
