Jeffrey Whitehead started this petition to City Council of Lafayette, CA City Council of Lafayette CA

The Samantha Townhomes (Project Number: DR23-19 & TP50-19) consists of three complexes of condominiums proposed to be built on Stuart Street in Lafayette, CA. Three of the condos closest to the The Child Day Schools, Lafayette (1049 Stuart St) will reduce pedestrian safety, especially for young children and their families, increase traffic congestion, and eliminate essential parking spaces .

Three of the condos will have driveways that are accessed directly into or near the school parking lot. Commissioners on the Design Commission have already raised the issue of traffic and parking on Stuart Street near the preschool.

Below are the actual drawings proposed by the developer showing the complexes, and note the West Complex units on Stuart Street:

The Samantha Townhomes was approved by the Lafayette Planning Commission on June 21. However, as owners and administrators of The Child Day Schools, LLC, Lafayette, we are appealing this decision. We are asking the Lafayette City Council to not approve the three condos closest to the school (Units 3 ,4, and 5 of the West Complex). We believe that not approving those units will ensure the safety of children and pedestrians, stabilize traffic circulation, and maintain essential parking spaces.

The hearing of the Appeal will take place during the Lafayette City Council meeting on July 26 at 7 pm via Zoom. See information about the City Council meeting on the City's calendar for July 26: www.lovelafayette.org/calendar
Public Comments prior to the meeting may be sent to: cityhall@lovelafayette.org

As a school that cares for children ages 2 to 5, we have served the Lafayette community for 45 years. Our first priority is the safety of children and their families as well as our teachers. We hope everyone who loves children, families, and teachers will sign and support this petition. Thank you!
