Hold a one member one vote election to appoint the next Labour Party General Secretary

As a Labour Party Member and activist, I believe that we need an open and transparent method of choosing the next General Secretary. In the modern world it is not difficult to hold elections online for positions that will have significant influence on how the labour party is run. As the most senior employee of the party, the general secretary should ultimately be accountable to the membership and not beholden to any faction or wing of the party.
The Labour Party will also be able to show that it trusts the members as part of the movement rather than simply donors and election fodder. This is highly important when media spin tries to paint the party as undemocratic and antiquated. Let us embrace the challenge of showing we are far the most democratic party in Britain and that power resides at the bottom and each member can truly make a difference.
