Save the Coconut Trees at Rudy John Beach Park

The Laborie Town Council with the approval of the National Conservation Authority has made the decision to cut off 27 of the coconut trees that grace the Rudy John Beach Park. This is not only a move that could have detrimental impact to the environment of the fishing village that we call home but it is a move that will affect the aesthetics of what makes the Rudy John Beach Park one of the most photographed beaches on the island of Saint Lucia. We believe that many more beneficial steps could be taken to address the problem of falling coconuts injuring passersby.
