We are seeking justice for an elderly couple, Jon & Diane, who have been taken advantage of by La-Z-Boy. 

They are in their late 70’s and finally were able to treat themselves to two very expensive La-Z-Boy recliners upholstered in aniline leather. Within 6 months the beautiful medium brown color faded to a colorless cream color.

The couple asked customer service at both the retail store and at the corporate level for some solution through the warranty to resolve the problem. The response in all instances from La-Z-Boy was that they were not going to do anything because it was not a warranty issue despite their being no exceptions for fading on either the advertisement or the warranty.

On La-Z-Boy’s website it advertises these aniline recliners as having vibrant colors that last the 15 to 20 years their advertisement claimed. You can view the advertisement on their website here:

After doing extensive research the couple came to the conclusion that the aniline leather advertised by La-Z-Boy would never retain its colors unless it was locked in a room without windows or light. It meant the advertisement that lured them into becoming  La-Z-Boy customers was deceptive and likely a lie so they went forward with suing La-Z-Boy.

Consistent with all the treatment the couple experienced previously La-Z-Boy has ignored the lawsuit and hasn’t even responded to it. Clearly they are frustrated with La-Z-Boy, but also with the legal profession that allows lawyers to drag out cases in the hopes the customer will wear out, give up, and go away.
