I join this open letter to maintain a conversation around diversity and question the representation of our artistic scene by a prize that aspires to be national. I hereby do not address a critique to the nominated artists which I fully support in their work, but also in their analyse of the reality they live in.

I regret that artists have to suffer once again from the discursive ambiguities of such a petition. There is no mention in the French version of "the denial of aesthetic and social realities" (contrary to the English and Dutch versions). I signed the French version of this letter in relation to a positioning about ‘Diversity’ but do not have reservations about the personal and undeniable artistic quality of all the artists candidates.
The real question here is about the artistic landscape (in this case, a Brussels art scene) for a prize that aspires to be a National one.

This is not the original meaning of the Jeune Peinture Belge price for young beginning artist. Not for allready established ones! Again " Belgique à papa".
