I'm signing because this would negatively impact the health of women like myself. Having my most recent child, Safiya, at Oschner's Midwives clinic was the BEST. And why would you limit midwives? I'm sure midwives are cheaper than doctors, so wouldn't insurance companies want us to do that instead?

The last thing we need is more restrictions that cut people off from medical care.

As a former resident of Louisiana, I have firsthand experience how limited birthing options are in this state. Two of my three children were born at two different hospitals in Louisiana. Please do not further restrict access to quality, licensed health care providers. Women should be able to choose their provider of choice, even if she chooses a midwife. Not to mention this option saves the state money! Look to New Mexico for best practices in incorporating the option of midwifery into the state Medicaid program.

women should have the right to the birth they want and for those facilities to be reimbursed for their services.

Birthing centers offer a good alternative to healthy low risk pregnancies. Famlies often have a bonding good experience.

Women have the right to birth where they please. First it'll be no birthing centers, then you won't be able to refuse vaccines in the hospital, or delay cord clamping. If we don't fight this now we will be put back into the dark ages.
