End Homelessness in the LA Continuum
A Petition in Support of Ending Homelessness*
I agree that the current systems and programs are not producing the results we would like to see, and by signing this petition I affirm my agreement with and support of the following items:
1. Ending Homelessness
I am interested in ending homelessness, not managing it or perpetuating services and mindsets that allow homelessness to continue.
2. Increasing Public Funding – HUD Bonus Funds
I support the application by the Continuum for HUD Permanent Supportive Housing Bonus Funds, and the equitable distribution of the same to all of the SPA’s (Service Planning Areas).
3. Implementing of Coordinated Entry (CES) and Homeless Family Solution Systems (HFSS)
I support the continued implementation and possible combination of CES and HFSS.
4. Accepting a Housing First/Permanent Supportive Housing approach to the handling of chronic homeless
I support housing first and Permanent Supportive Housing as best practices that, across the country, have resulted in significant decreases in cost of homeless services and higher housing retention rates. I support the proper implementation of this system and its coordination with “Bridge Housing”.
5. Criminalizing of Homelessness
I don’t believe that homelessness should be criminalized.
I support action by the Board of Supervisors to end homelessness in the LA Continuum by requiring collaboration that crosses geographic and political boundaries; the bringing down of silos; providing effective education to the community; and not forgetting the fact that the system is there to help the homeless.
