Petition Closed

The gay and lesbian community in Los Angeles is an historic and diverse part of the City's fabric. Although LGBT persons live in every neighborhood, speak dozens of languages and are of every race and ethnicity, together, Los Angeles' gays and lesbians constitute a Community of Interest in the City.

We are asking the Los Angeles City Council Redistricting Commission to:

1. Recognize the City's LGBT Community as a Community of Interest;

2. Where possible, keep the City's historic LGBT neighborhoods united (for example, Silverlake and Hollywood or North Hollywood and Studio City); and,

3. Make recommendations to Federal and Local officials on collecting more accurate data on the City's LGBT population before the next round of redistricting occurs.
