Coyote Hunting on Des Lacs Wildlife Refuge

This wildlife refuge is already home to hunting deer, turkey, pheasant, grey partridge, sharp-tailed grouse, cotton tailed, snowshoe hare, and fox. This wildlife refuge was designed to protect upland game and waterfowl. Coyotes are a predator of these species and we believe that allowing hunting on coyotes would only help the species that this refuge is designed to protect. This would also assist the local farmers with the nuisance that coyotes create during calving season. This would also help cut down on costs of trying to keep coyotes at bay. This nuisance comes at the expense of taxpayers and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services. This expense could be used for other resources within the U.S. Fish and Wildlife.
