No More Plastics on Organic Produce
No More Plastics on Organic Produce
Plastic - how does it harm the planet? Plastics do not biodegrade like other products. Plastics stay in the environment for many years. Since plastics are typically made from chemicals like gas, oil or coal, this can contribute to global warming and spread toxins throughout the environment. According to IUCN.ORG, 8 million tons of plastic end up in our oceans every year, which is devastating for wildlife and poses a threat to food safety and human health.
So why do we see so much plastic used in grocery stores? We even see plastics used on organic food, which is a huge problem. I think it's time for a change. Although Kroger supermarkets plan to phase out the use of plastic shopping bags by 2025 and have other sustainability goals going forward, this is just not enough. Recycling alone is not the answer. I want to call on the Kroger Company to stop using plastics on all organic produce in their stores by 2025. I need your help to make this happen!
Please take a moment to sign this petition to help us encourage Kroger to make this change. Our planet and future generations thank you!
