Mandatory Minimum Sentencing has got to be stopped... Each case deserves to be tried differently, as well as the sentence that goes along. A double whammy hit my heart in the month of October 2008. My father was not only innocent, but lost to a Jury Trial in Columbia County Georgia. Mandatory Minimum Sentencing is what echoed the court room that morning. Little did any of us know, the severity of a he said she said debate, was enough to take my rock, my hero, my protector, my biggest fan, my Father away for 25 years. With no physical evidence, no nothing. My whole world froze within seconds, when the judge sternly voiced, " This is very unfortunate, 25 years, life without parole". Justice was not alive October 15th, 2008. So I'm asking you, to take a stand, not only for my Father, but for yours as well. The law needs to change mandatory sentencing.
