Krispy Kreme has long served as a staple to the nut free and food allergic communities, serving as an easy, delicious, and fun treat to bring into nut free schools, eat at home, and even just have around the house. Although Krispy Kreme claims that they were never a nut free company, they were a trusted resource.
The Nutella doughnut in early 2017 was devastating to the food allergy community, and led to a marked decrease in trust and support of Krispy Kreme. The most recent limited edition product, the Ghiradelli Doughnuts, also used products which had a cross contamination warning for tree nuts. However, peanut products have still remained out of the picture.
In the fall of 2017, Krispy Kreme is planning on introducing the Reese's Doughnuts as their limited edition product. This will further the already existing mistrust, and present an even higher danger to individuals who are nut allergic, coming from a previously trusted source.
We are pleading with Krispy Kreme Incorporated and executives to please refrain from introducing this product to the United States market. This has NOT been formally announced, which is why you will not find information about it online. It is potentially harmful, unnecessary, and excessive.
